LABTECH MICROWAVE SECURES £0.8 MILLION OF NEW ORDERS

Intelek plc (AIM: ITK), whose activities include the design and manufacture of electronic systems and components for the satellite, wireless communications and defence sectors, is pleased to announce that Labtech Microwave, its wholly-owned subsidiary, has received orders to the value of £0.8 million since the middle of September from a North American telecommunications company for specialist high frequency radio link printed circuit boards (PCBs).  These orders take the total value of orders received from this customer since 1 April 2009 to a level in excess of £1.5 million, all of which are scheduled for delivery in the current financial year. 

In recent years, Labtech Microwave has been positioned away from the commodity end of the telecommunications market to concentrate on more complex and specialist PCBs for high frequency radio links, military programmes and air traffic control systems.  As a consequence, Labtech Microwave has seen demand growing substantially in the current financial year for point to point radio requirement for mobile telecommunications.  The advanced PCBs are used to combine a set of high performance monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) to produce high capacity radio links which form the backbone of the latest mobile telephone networks.
