04 Nov 2008 - Contract Win/Development of Activities in Far East

INTELEK plc

CONTRACT WIN

AND DEVELOPMENT OF ACTIVITIES IN THE FAR EAST

Intelek plc (AIM: ITK), whose activities include the design and manufacture of electronic systems and components for the satellite, wireless communications and defence sectors, is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, Paradise Datacom, will be supplying satellite modems for an IP (Internet Protocol) data network in north Asia. This initial deployment represents the first of two phases with the total project valued in excess of $1M and due to complete in Q1 of 2009. Paradise Datacoms Evolution modem was designed from the very beginning for IP-centric applications and provides a long list of embedded features such as IP Link Acceleration and IP traffic diagnostics.

In addition, due to the increase in business being won in Asia, Paradise Datacom has now opened a new Sales and Engineering Services office in Beijing, to add to its existing office in Bangkok, Thailand.  This new office will focus on sales opportunities within China and will also provide pre and post-sales technical support.  The staff have many years of experience in satellite communications and are well known within the industry in China.

Ian Brodie, Chief Executive of Intelek plc, commented:

"It is very encouraging to see the continued development of Paradise Datacoms Far East business with another contract win on a substantial project in that region.  This success by Paradise Datacoms Asia Pacific team has led us to extend further our network in the Far East by opening our second Sales and Engineering Centre this year, this time in Beijing.   This underlines the importance of Asia in the development of Paradise Datacom and I look forward to reporting further success in the coming months."
