Intelek plc (AIM: ITK), whose activities include the design and manufacture of electronic systems and components for the satellite, wireless communications and defence sectors, is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, Paradise Datacom, has received a $0.6m order for their new generation PD10 & PD25 Evolution Series satellite modems, deliverable over the next three months, from a major GSM operator in North West Africa.
Paradise Datacom, with manufacturing plants in the UK and US, is a leading supplier of Satcom equipment solutions and offers a comprehensive array of ground equipment, including Satellite Modems, Solid State Power Amplifiers, Low Noise Amplifiers, Block-Up Converters and Transceivers.
The new generation PD10 and PD25 Evolution Series modems were selected for this network expansion due to their high levels of functionality, tailored specifically to next generation GSM services over satellite, and their competitive price. The modems will be used to improve voice call quality and provide value added services as well as extend the network’s coverage.
Paradise Datacom have been actively involved in the African Satcom market for many years. Its product range is used extensively by system integrators, celcom and telecom companies and users of data communications in almost every African country.
Ian Brodie, Chief Executive, Intelek, commented:
“We are delighted by this ground breaking order in the African markets for our new P10 modem, further validation of its ‘best of breed’ competitive advantage. In addition to our leading technology we are the only commercial satellite equipment manufacturer with fully independent design, manufacturing and support facilities in both Europe (Witham, UK) and North America (State College, Pennsylvania). As such, Paradise Datacom is able to provide the support and speed of service needed by the African market.”
